This link will lead to the Orange County, North Carolina, Cemetery Web Site.  This old Couch Cemetery was
discovered and inventoried just in December 2007.  Grave # 6 has a Photo of the old Headstone of Thomas
Couch III, son of Ole Thomas Couch & Mary of Prince George County, Virginia (later Brunswick County),
Orange County, North Carolina, and the old 96th District, South Carolina (now Spartanburg County.)
The caption reads “this is likely were Thomas Couch, SR. (which is actually Thomas Couch II) is buried.”



This was an incredible Cemetery find.  The Director of the Orange County, North Carolina Trading Path
Association helped me map the Old Hillsborough, North Carolina to Cross Keys Road.  The road ran through
the land grant property (A. B. Markham Land Grant Map) of Ole Thomas & Mary Couch in Orange County,
North Carolina.  The Cemetery site in the link is located very close to the Old Hillsborough-Cross Keys Road.
I would speculate that this site is very near where Ole Thomas & Mary Couch had their home when living in
Orange County, North Carolina, from 1754 or a littler earlier until about 1766 when they moved down to the
Old 96th District, South Carolina, and Ole Thomas got his 300 acre land grant there along the Enoree River.
